Interpretation

So wise we are
blessed with the art of interpreting
what is appropriate and what is right
appropriate to us and
right or wrong as we shall choose
never a moment do we loose
to assess and stereotype
to mock and ridicule
to praise and fawn
to deny and alienate
instilled in our sub-conscious
this power defines our lives
sometimes the first lesson we are taught
sometimes the spawn of our ignorant minds

Dilemma

I sit, elbows resting upon the window sill
with a clear sky and a clouded mind
I see the road less travelled
through the imminent crossroads
of hedonic pursuits and eluding conscience
of insatiable desires and futile attempts
may I swagger through, unperturbed,
or push myself into the unbound, not knowing
what would become of me
the enervating fear of failure
the apprehensions of deluding convention
that are buried deep inside our minds
no more than beasts tethered to a pole we are
and voluntarily so
